4 foot Vintage Texas Rig-a-lite explosion proof aluminium light were previously employed in ships’ engine rooms, cargo decks and similar hazardous locations. This was designed to allow efficient lighting on LNG or LPG carriers and chemical container ships where explosion proof lighting is essential. These were also used to light drilling rigs. Built in the 1960’s, these light fittings are not too heavy weighing around 13kg each. 

They are ridiculously over engineered for the purpose we now see them being used for, but they are an industrial style that we think would work well in an industrial themed cafe or bar. These can be used in wet areas as outdoor lighting.  Incorporating a flat glass cover, they may also provide lighting for food preparation areas i.e., shatterproof.
